INDONESIAN COAL REFERENCE PRICE FORMULA HAS OFFICIALLY CHANGED
Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources has officially changed the guideline for determining the benchmark price for the sale of coal commodities. The new rules are contained in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 41.K/MB.01/MEM.B/2023.
Referring to the new regulation, there are three reference prices for coal.
The government, in this case the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has officially changed the guideline for determining the benchmark price for the sale of coal commodities. The new rules are contained in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 41.K/MB.01/MEM.B/2023.
HBA (Calorific Value - 6200 - 6400 GAR coal)
The Reference Coal Price (in the equivalent calorific value of 6,322 kcal/kg GAR, Total Moisture 12.58%, Total Sulfur 0.71% and Ash 7.58%, the HBA is: HBA = (0.7*Pm) + (0.3 *Pm-1) (US$/ton) Pm is the average selling price of coal with calories 6,200 -6,400 kcal/kg GAR in the previous month (US$/ton) Pm-1 is the average selling price of coal with calories of 6,200 -6,400 kcal/kg GAR in the previous two months (US$/tonne).
HBA I (Calorific Value - 5100 - 5300 GAR coal)
The Reference Coal Price (in the equivalent calorific value of 5,200 kcal/kg GAR, Total Moisture 23.12%, Total Sulfur 0.69% and Ash 6%, the HBA is: HBA I = (0.7*Pm) + (0.3 *Pm-1) (US$/ton) Pm is the average selling price of coal with calories 5,100 -5,300 kcal/kg GAR in the previous month (US$/ton) Pm-1 is the average selling price of coal with calories of 5,100 -5,300 kcal/kg GAR in the previous two months (US$/tonne).
HBA II (Calorific Value - 4100 - 4300 GAR coal)
The Reference Coal Price II (in the equivalent calorific value of 4,200 kcal/kg GAR, Total Moisture 35.29%, Total Sulfur 0.2% and Ash 4.21%, the HBA: HBA II = (0.7*Pm) + (0.3*Pm-1) (US$/ton). Pm is the average selling price of coal with calories 4,100 -4,300 kcal/kg GAR in the previous month (US$/ton). Pm-1 is the average price selling coal with calories of 4,100 -4,300 kcal/kg GAR in the previous two months (US$/tonne)..
The implementation of this formula since 27 on February 2023. Any transactions on and after 27 February 2023 is subject to this new formula.
