SOUTH KOREA STATE-OWNED UTILITY KOREA MIDLAND POWER ISSUED A TENDER FOR 1 MILLION TONS OF BITUMINOUS COAL
 COALspot.com: South Korea state-owned utility Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO) issued a tender for 520,000 mt of min. 5700 NAR coal of Australian origin to be burnt at Boryeong & Shin Boryeong Power Plants. KOMIPO is also inviting bids for 480,000 mt of min 4600 NAR coal from Global coal miners. However Chinese as well as Russian coals are not allowed to participate min. 4600 NAR coal tender.
According to the tender No. KOMIPO-Bid Notice-2018-LT01/LT02 terms, out of 520,000 mt of total requirement around 260,000MT mt (2 cape sizes shipments) of minimum 5700 kcal/kg NAR coal to be purchased based on Index-linked to Global Coal Index on FOBT Australia. The Cargo loading should be completed by Aug. 2018 and Oct. or Nov. 2018. The remaining 260,000 mt of coal should be supplied Q1 & Q2 2019.
For 4700 NAR coal Inquiry, 240,000MT of 4700 NAR coal should be supplied August, September and October 2018 by 3 panamaxe vessels to be purchased basis one Single Fixed Price Based on FOBT.
Shipment Size
Shipment size shall vary from 130,000mt to 180,000mt (cape size) or from 70,000mt to 90,000mt(Panamax) vessel depending on KOMIPO’s in-house fleet vessel availability. Seller shall have no right to refuse loading of the cargo due to KOMIPO’s vessel size. For the avoidance of doubt, KOMIPO reserves the right to dispatch its in-house vessel fleet without any consultation with Seller. Either plus or minus 10% shipping tolerance shall be allowed for each shipment.
Price
5700 NAR coal: FOB Evaluation Price = Newcastle GlobalCoal Index of 3rd May 2018(U$101.47) less [ ]% or Plus [ ]% x Bidder’s guarantee NAR/6,000Kcal/kg. The pricing method and price for the remaining cargo of 2nd half CY2 (260,000MT), CY3 to CY5 (520,000MT/year) shall be negotiated later on a mutual Basis.
4600 NAR coal: The price for shipments during the period of CY2 (remaining cargoes), CY3 to CY5 shall be negotiated on a mutual basis.
