PORT OF NEWCASTLE HAS SHIPPED 11.563 MILLION TONS COAL IN FEBRUARY 2017; DECLINED 12.19 PERCENT M/M
 COALspot.com: The Port of Newcastle, Australia’s major trading ports and the world’s largest coal export ports has shipped $AU 1,410.9 Million worth of 11.563 million tons of Power plant coal and coking coal for the month ended February 2017.
According to Port’s monthly report, YTD (2017 calendar year to date), the port has shipped $AU 3.027 billion worth of 24.732 million tons of coal. The average selling price YTD was average $AU 122.39 per MT, rose approximately 41.58 percent from the same period in 2016.
The average selling price for month February 2017 was around $AU 122.01 (approximately US$ 91.97*) per ton, decline approximately 1.15 percent from January 2017 average selling price of $AU 123.43 per ton and rose approximately 40.84 percent compared to February 2016.
Port has shipped 12.19 percent less coal in February 2017 compared to its January 2017 loading of 13.169 million tons. Port has also shipped 9.55% less coal YoY.
$AU 1,410.9 million trade value of coal shipped in February 2017 compared to $AU 1,625.6 million in January 2017, declined 13.23 percent month on month.
According to operation report posted on port’s website, as of 28 February 2017, the port has served 129 (down 12.83% month on month) ocean-going vessels in February 2017.
The port’s report further noted that the Port of Newcastle has shipped coal to Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Caledonia and Taiwan in the month of February 2017.
Anglo, Peabody, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger coal exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.
