73.08 PERCENT OF COAL PRODUCERS PREDICTED INDIA WILL NOT STOP COAL IMPORTS IN 2 TO 3 YEARS - POLL
 COALspot released its weekly opinion poll "How likely do you think India will STOP thermal coal imports in 2-3 years?" this Monday.
The poll was conducted from 17 October 2016 to 23 October 2016 found that 33.58 percent of participants expected "not likely at all" the India will stop coal imports in 2 to 3 years, versus 32.85 percent who picked the India "not very likely" stop coal imports in two to three years. Among the respondents, 66.43 percent of respondents predicted India will not stop coal imports before 2019.
However, 21.90 percent of participants believed that "Somewhat likely" India will stop coal imports in 2 to 3 years and 11.68 percent of total participants strongly believed that India "Very likely" stop coal imports before 2019.
End-Users
Some 32.64 percents of likely end-users of coal expected India "not very likely" stop coal imports, versus 38.46 percent picked the answer "Somewhat likely".
Some 50 percents of likely end users picked the answers between "very likely" and "somewhat likely" while, another 50 percent of end-users believed in between "not likely at all" and "not very likely".
Coal Producers
Some 73.08 percent of likely coal producers expected India will not stop coal imports in 2 to 3 years. This reflects a sharp difference between producers and end-users on whether India will stop coal imports in 2 to 3 years or not.
Coal Traders
Among the likely coal traders, some 36.54 percent expected " Not likely at all " the India will stop coal imports while another 30.77 percent of coal traders also believed "Not very likely" India will stop coal imports in 2 to 3 years.
Among the coal traders, 67.31 percent in the latest poll said they believed India will not stop coal imports before the year 2019, versus 32.69 percent of likely coal traders expected India will stop coal imports in 2 to 3 years.
COALspot poll was conducted online between 17 October 2016 00:01 GMT and 23 October 2016 23:59 GMT.
The latest poll responded by 137 visitors, 26 who identified themselves as coal producers, another 26 identified as coal end-user and 52 respondents who identified themselves as coal traders.
