INDONESIAN COAL MINER KIDECO REPORTED NET PROFIT OF US$138.1 MILLION IN 2015
 COALspot.com: Kideco Jaya Agung, one of the Indonesia's leading coal miners has reported net profit of US$138.1 million on revenue of US$1.65 billion in FY15. However, the 2015 net profit declined 10.5 percent compared to US$154.4 million reported in 2014. Low coal prices push down Kideco's net profit in 2015. Kideco Jaya Agung partly owned by PT Indika Energy Tbk, one of the Indonesia’s leading listed integrated energy company.
Kideco Jaya Agung, established in 1982, and produces a range of sub-bituminous coal containing low levels of sulfur, ash and nitrogen, making it environmentally friendly for use in coal-fired power plants.
According to audited consolidated financial statements for the full year period ended 31 December, 2015 of PT Indika Energy, the Kideco’s revenues declined 19.5 percent to US$ 1.65billion in FY15 from US$ 2.05 billion in FY14. The average selling price of Kideco coal was declined 16.2 percent to US$ 42.9 a ton in 2015 from US$ 51.3 a ton in 2014. The sales volumes of the miner also declined 3.9 percent to 38.6 Mt in 2015 from 40.2 Mt in 2014.
The miner's cash cost including royalty in 2015 has improved from US$ 42.1 a ton to US$ 34.6 a ton, mainly as a result of lower fuel costs and operational efficiencies, the company's 2015 financial statement says.
PT Indika Energy, Indonesia’s one of the leading integrated energy company's revenues in 2015 declined 1.1 percent to US$ 1.09 billion from US$ 1.10 billion reported in FY14 due to mainly to lower revenue contribution from Petrosea and MBSS.
According to Indika's FY15 audited consolidated financial statements, the Indika's revenues from coal trading grew 84.1 percent to US$ 263.4 million in 2015 from US$ 143.0 million in FY14. Traded coal volume was also rose by 4.6 million tons in 2015 to 8.2 Mt from 3.6 Mt in FY14. However, realized average selling price was declined to US$ 32.2 a ton in 2015 from US$ 38 per ton in 2014.
Indika's MBSS’ revenues decreased 33.1% to US$89.8 million in FY15 from US$134.1 million in FY14.
MBSS is a fully integrated transportation and logistics services company for the mining and natural resources industry providing one stop solution from material handling to transportation and trans-shipment of the bulk materials using its barging and floating crane fleet.
Coal volumes transported by MBSS has declined 28.5 percent to 22.2 mt and transhipment volumes declined 26.8 percent to 15.8 mt in 2015. According to the parent company's financial statement, the trans-shipment freight was stable in 2015 while inter-island barging freights remained soft.
The world coal price collapsed almost affected all the industry connected to coal mines around the world including Indonesia.
Petrosea’s revenues declined 40.5 percent to US$ 206.8 million in FY15 from US$ 347.9 million in FY14. Overburden removal volume declined 45.6 percent YoY and contract mining revenue declined 50.8 percent YoY (US$294.2 million to US$144.7 million).
