COASTAL ENERGEN CROSSES GENERATION OF 1068 MW AND EXPORT OF 1004 MW FROM ITS 1200 MW IPP
COALspot.com: Coal & Oil (C&O) Group, an India centric Energy & Infrastructure company announced that their Coastal Energen's 2x600mw Mutiara Thermal Power Plant attained ~ 90% PLF by generating 1068 MW and exporting 1004 MW during this week consistently.
'Mutiara' went live on 23rd December 2014 with its 1st Unit of 600mw and 2nd Unit in January 2016.
Both units generated over 3.55 Billion Units addressing the pressing power needs of Tamilnadu. Mutiara has consumed over 2.28 Million tons of coal mostly sourced from Indonesia, financed and supplied by large Japanese and Indian trading houses.
The annual consumption of coal is likely to touch 5 MT per annum.

The Power generated from both units is predominantly sold to Tangedco under a long term Power Purchase agreement for 15 years.
According to Coal & Oil, Coastal Energen is among Tamil Nadu's largest private Sector Power investment with a capital outlay of over $ 1.3 Bn with SBI as the lead bank. The Plant is located at Melamarudur Village in Tuticorin district. With close proximity to V.O.Chidambaranar Port, formerly Tuticorin Port, having excellent road, rail and air connectivity, the plant is strategically positioned for further expansion to meet the South India's growing power needs.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Ahmed Buhari, Founder President & CEO, Coastal Energen stated: "It gives me great pleasure that our efforts are now paying off in benefitting the people of our State. Power is a critical component in enabling Tamil Nadu's Vision of emerging among the foremost states of India. We are glad that we can play a part in this Vision by supplying power to the people of Tamil Nadu to achieve their growth potential.
Mr. Buhari further added: "We are meticulously working on stabilizing the operations of both units and aiming PLF of above 90% throughout the year. We are also actively working on developing the Madurai - Tuticorin Industrial corridor, which will also enable this region to progress in line with India's ambitious growth plans" he said.
