BDI CONTINUED ITS FALL AND CLOSE AT A FRESH RECORD LOW ON FRIDAY
 COALspot.com: The Baltic Dry Index, which gauges the cost of shipping dry bulk including iron ore, cement, grain, coal and fertilizer, continued its fall to close at a fresh record low on Friday or fell 37 points, or 10.45 percent, to 317 points.
The Capesize index also decline 18 points, or 7.86 percent, to 211 points on Friday.
According to the market, the Panamax index declined 47 points, or 14.07 percent, to 287 points on 29 January. The Supramax index down 54 points, or 15.08 percent, to 304 points while the handy size index down 14 points, or 6 percent, to 219 points week over week on 29 January.
Average daily earnings for Supramax, for the route Indonesia to India (delivery Singapore) rated at around $ 3000-4000 per day this week, while the Panamax vessels rated at around $ 3000 per day delivery Shanghai.
Freight rates are expected to be flat to weak next week.
The Panamax’s average charter rates were reported at around US$2672 per day. The Supramax’s average charters rates were at around $3742 per day and Handy size ships were at $3439 per day.
In the meantime, the futures for three years (2016-2018) for the ships were reported slightly higher than the current spot rates the ship were earning. The Cape size ships were at US$ 8000 per day, Panamax at US$ 7000 per day, Supramax at US$ 7000 per day and Handy size at US$ 6000 per day.
The S8 route charter rates for Supramax down 22.69 percent week over week to $2434 per day on Friday. Indonesia to India freight rates are expected to be flat to weak next week.
