PANAMAX MARKET WEAKENS ACROSS THE BOARD
 COALspot.com: The Baltic Dry Index, which gauges the cost of shipping dry bulk including iron ore, cement, grain, coal and fertiliser, fell nineteen points, or 5.09 percent, to 354 points on 22 January 2016.
The Capesize index, however, rose 31 points, or 15.65 percent, to 226 points on Friday.
According to market, the Panamax index declined 31 points, or 12.33 percent, to 226 points on 22 January. The Supramax index down 36 points, or 9.14 percent, to 358 points while the handy size index down 12 points, or 4.89 percent, to 233 points week over week on 22 Janaury.
Average daily earnings for Supramax, for the route Indonesia to India (delivery Singapore) rated at around $ 4000-5000 per day this week, while the Panamax vessels rated at around $ 3000 per day delivery Shanghai.
Freight rates expected to be flat to steady next week.
The Panamax’s average charter rates were reported at around US$2672 per day. The Supramax’s average charters rates were at around $3742 per day and Handy size ships were at $3439 per day.
In the meantime, the futures for three years (2016-2018) for the ships were reported slightly higher than the current spot rates the ship were earning. The Cape size ships were at US$ 8000 per day, Panamax at US$ 7000 per day, Supramax at US$ 7000 per day and Handy size at US$ 6000 per day.
The S8 route charter rates for Supramax down 14.77 percent week over week to $3103 per day on Friday. Indonesia to India freight rates are expected to be flat to steady this week.
The Brent crude oil price was closed at $32.18 per barrel up around 11.19 percent on 22 January 2016. The bunker prices were also up and closed at $159.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 22 Jan 2016).
