COAL PRICES TO REMAIN UNDER PRESSURE THIS YEAR
 COALspot.com: Indonesian coal swap delivery Q1 2016 declined month on month and week over week. The falling trend of prices for coal was continuing since 2013 and the trend may continue in 2016. The supply for coal is still high or Increasing compare to the demand for coal.
According to AsiaClear OTC coal swap's reports released on 15 January 2016, Q1 2016 swap slipped US cents 35 to US$ 36.50 month over a month.
FOB Indonesia coal swap
According to this past week’s SGX data, sub-bit FOB Indonesia coal swap (average) Q2 2016 swap was also dropped $0.50 (1.37%) per ton month on month and week on week.
The SGX's data further indicates that, FOB Indonesia coal swap for Q3 2016 delivery lost US$ 0.65 (-1.78%) per ton month on month and closed at US$ 35.85 per MT.
Sub-bit FOB Indonesia coal swap, as per SGX's data, particularly for Q1,Q2 and Q3 2016 deliveries declined month over month and week on week.
SGX Asia Clear OTC Sub-Bit Indonesian coal for Q1 2016 delivery swap closed US$ 0.65 (1.78%) higher compared to average Q3 2016 delivery price of US$ 35.85 on 15 January 2016. In the meantime, Q3 delivery price was closed slightly ( US$ 0.20/ton) lower compared to Q2 closing price.
The excess coal production and a slowdown in India and China buying still keep Coal futures under pressure. India, one of the huge coal consumer and importer, has also started to import less volume recent months as its domestic output has begun improving.
EIA estimates that global oil inventories increased by 1.9 million b/d in 2015, marking the second consecutive year of inventory builds. This oversupply has contributed to oil prices reaching the lowest monthly average level since mid-2004. Inventories are forecast to rise by an additional 0.7 million b/d in 2016, before the global oil market becomes relatively balanced in 2017.
