CAPE INDEX SURGES 383 POINTS WEEK OVER WEEK, BOOSTS BALTIC DRY INDEX
 COALspot.com: The Baltic Dry Index, a measure of shipping rates, fell to 498 points on 20 November and touched a 30-year low, but on 27 November the index was rebounded slightly or up 83 points supported by Cape’s performance.
The Baltic Dry Index is a composite of the Baltic Capesize, Panamax, Handysize and Supramax indices.
The BDI was up 16.67% week over week and closed at 581 points on 27 November 2015.
In the meantime, the cape index was increased 63.20% and closed at 989 points.
The Panamax index was down 1.51% closing at 456 points. The supramax index and handysize index was down by about below 2% closing at 467 points and 283 points respectively.
The Indonesia to India Supramax charter rates were rating around $ 6500-7000 per day delivery Indonesia while the Panamax vessels were rating around $ 3500-4000 per day delivery shanghai.
The Freight rates are expected to be slightly firm next week.
The Cape average charter rates were reported at around $7086 per day, Panamax at around $3644 per day, Supramax at round $4884 per day and Handy size at around $4134 per day.
The three years (2016-2018) future for Cape reported at around $10000 per day around $2914 higher compared to spot average charter rates. The Panamax was reported at around $ 7000 per day, almost double compared to the ship’s spot rates, Supramax at around $ 7000 per day and Handysize at around $ 6500 per day.
This week’s S8 route for Supramax was almost flat compared to last week closing. The freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be flat next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was almost steady at same levels at $ 44.86 per barrel (last week $ 44.66 per barrel). The bunker prices almost steady and closed at $ 219.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 27th Nov 2015).
