PORT OF NEWCASTLE'S COAL EXPORT VOLUME UP IN OCTOBER 2015
 COALspot.com: The Port of Newcastle, Australia’s major trading ports and the world’s largest coal export port has shipped $1.254 billion worth of 14.032 million tons of coal for the month ended 31 October 2015. The based on available information, the average selling price for month October was around average US$ 89.38 per tons declined approximately 1.69 percent from September 2015 average selling price of US$ 90.92 per ton.
According to Port’s monthly report, YTD (2015 calendar year to date), the port has shipped $11.826 billion worth of 130.924 million tons of coal. The average selling price YTD was around average US$ 90.33 per MT.
Port has shipped 9.84 percent more coal in October compared to its September 2015 loading of 12.774 million tons.
$1.254 billion trade value of coal shipped in October 2015 compared to $1.161 billion in September 2015.
According to operation report posted on port’s website, as of 31 October 2015, the port has served 152 (down 10.14% month on month) ocean going vessels in October and 1404 vessels January – October this year.
The port’s report further noted that, the Port of Newcastle has shipped coal to Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Caledonia and Taiwan in the month of October 2015.
Anglo, Peabody, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger coal exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.
