THE BDI AND OTHER INDICES CLOSED OFF ON NEGATIVE NOTE THIS FRIDAY
 COALspot.com: The BDI closed off on negative note this Friday compared to previous Friday's closing.
The BDI closed this Friday (16 October 2015) at 754 points, down by 55 points (-6.8 per cent) compared to last Friday's levels ( 9 October 2015). The BCI (Cape index), decreased 231 points (-14.91%) week over week and the BPI ( Panamax Index) down 39 points ( -5.12 percent) for the same period.
The Supramax and Handy sizes indices also remained soft, closed 658 points and 376 points respectively this Friday.
The supramax charter rates from Indonesia to India were rating around $ 7500 per day passing Singapore. Panamax vessels were rating around $ 6000 per day delivery shanghai.
The next week freight rates are expected to be flat to soft next week.
The Cape size average charter rates were reported at around $ 8256 per day, Panamax at $ 5789 per day, Supramax at $ 6882 per day and Handy size $ 5448 per day.
The three years (2015-2018) futures charter rates were reported at around $ 14000 per day for Cape, $ 8500 per day for Panamax, $ 8500 per day for Supramax and $ 7000 per day for Handy size vessels.
The S8 route for Supramax was slightly up or increased 1.39 per cent and closed at $ 5613 per day (last week $ 5536 per day) this Friday. Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be flat to soft next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was down by 7.48 pct closing at $ 48.71 per barrel (last week $ 52.65 per barrel). The bunker prices also softened and closed at $ 237.50 pmt (IFO 380 CST ex. Singapore on 16th Oct 2015).
