THE CAPE SIZE INDEX ROSE 10.83 PER CENT WEEK OVER WEEK
 COALspot.com: The BDI, the Baltic exchange's main sea freight index, which tracks rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, declined on Friday, instead of higher cape size rates.
The BDI, which factors in the average daily earnings of dry bulk transport vessels particularly Cape, panama, Supramax and Handy, lost 28 points to 875 points week over week.
The cape size index rose 10.83 per cent to 1187 points w-w.
Average daily earnings for cape size ships, which typically transport 150k-tonne cargoes such as Iron Ore and coal, reported at around US$ 8871 per day this week.
The Panamax index fell 14.06 per cent week on week to 837 points.
Average daily earnings for panamaxes, which usually carry 60,000 to 70,000-tonne cargoes of coal or grain, fell to US$ 6689 per day on Friday 4 September.
Average daily earnings for Supramaxes were reported at around US$ 9092 per day and Handy size vessel were at US$ 7053 per day.
The Supramax index fell 5.95 per cent to 870 points and the handy size was almost at same levels or slightly up and closed 485 points.
The supramax charter rates from Indonesia to India were rating around US$ 7500 per day passing through Singapore whil;e Panamax vessels were rating at around US$ 6000 per day delivery Shanghai.
Next week’s freight rates are expected to be flat to soft compare this week’s trend.
The three years futures (2015-2018) for cape size ships reported at around US$ 14000 per day, US$ 8500 per day for Panamax, US$ 8500 per day for Supramax and US$ 7000 per day for Handy size vessels.
The Supramax rates for S8 route was slightly down or lost 5.10 per cent closing at US$ 6171 per day (last week US$ 6503 per day).
Freight rates from Indonesia to India is also expected to be flat to soft.
The Brent Crude Oil price was slightly fell (0.88 per cent) to US$ 49.61 per barrel (last week US$ 50.05 per barrel) this end of week. The bunker prices were also slightly slides to US$ 256.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 4th Sept 2015).
