THE FREIGHT MARKET WAS STEADY EARLIER IN THE WEEK; SOFTEN INTO WEEK'S END
 COALspot.com: The freight market remain steady earlier in the week, but towards end of the week BDI and BCI shows some signs of softening.
The BDI was up 5.65 pct week over week and ended at 823 points while the Cape index was up 12.25 pct and closed at 1393 points for the same period. In the meantime, the Panamax index was up slightly or advanced 2.11 pct to 833 points while the Supramax index was almost at same levels compared to last week closing.
The handy size index was also up slightly or 1.97 pct week on week.
In the Far East/SE Asia, the freight rate was steady with supramax charter rates delivery Singapore was around US$ 9000-9500 per day for a trip via Indonesia to India. Owners were demanding a premium for a trip to WC India. The Panamax charter rates were also firm this week and ships were rating around US$ 6000 per day delivery mid china for a trip via Indonesia to India. The next week freight rates are expected to be steady.
The average charter rate for Cape was at around US$ 9154 per day this week, Panamax was at US$ 6644 per day, Supramax was at around US$ 7555 per day and Handy size was at US$ 5361 per day.
The three years future (2015-2017) was at around US$ 13000 per day for Cape, US$ 8500 per day for Panamax, US$ 8500 per day for Supramax and US$ 7500 per day Handy size ships.
The S8 route for Supramax was flat this week or just up 0.74 pct closing at US$ 7031 per day (last week US$ 6979 per day). The Indonesia to India freight is expected to be steady next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was almost steady just up by 0.36 pct closing at US$ 63.26 per barrel (last week US$ 63.02 per barrel).
The bunker prices was soft and closed at US$ 338.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 26th June 2015).
