PANAMAX FREIGHT RATES STILL FALLING
 COALspot.com: The BDI was slightly down this week to 720 points. The BDI lost 2.83 pct week on week.
The cape index continued its upward trend and gained 43.06 pct week on week. The BCI closed at 887 points on 23 January 2015. The Panamax index was quite weak or declined 9.75 pct week over week and closed at 685 points.
The supramax index was also declined 9.22 pct and handy size index was closed at 380 points after losing 9.09 pct.
In the Far East/SE Asia, the freight rates were soft and the supramax charter rates delivery Singapore were being rated around $ 7500-8000 per day for a trip to India.
Panamax charter rates were also weak and ships were reported fixed delivery Shanghai area around $ 4000-5000 per day for a trip to India. Freight rates expected to be soft to flat on supramax vessels and panamax vessels.
The average charter rates for Cape was reported at $ 7006 per day, Panamax at $ 5465 per day, Supramax at $ 6794 per day and Handy size at $ 5732 per day.
The futures for three years (2015-2017) was reported at around $ 14000 per day for Cape, $ 9000 per day for panamax, $ 9500 per day for Supramax and $ 8000 per day for Handy size.
The S8 route for supramax was fell 14.78 pct and closed at $ 6850 per day (last week $ 8038 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is still expected to be soft next week, the same trend as last week.
The Brent crude oil prices was slightly down week over week or declined 2.75 pct and closed at $ 48.79 per barrel (last week $ 50.17 per barrel) on 23 January 2015. The bunker prices were also almost at same levels closing at 283.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 23rd Jan 2015).
