PANAMAX COAL FREIGHT FROM INDONESIA TO INDIA FALLS FURTHER
 COALspot.com: The BDI continued its fall as cape index lost heavily week on week.
The BDI was down 6.95 percent week over week and closed at 803 points, while the cape index was lost 36.04 percent. Cape Index was closed at 488 points on 19 December 2014. In the meantime, the Panamax index was also fell 9.39 percent week over week at 907 points. The Supramax index was closed 3.47 percent lower than last week closing of 950 points on Friday.
The handy size index was slightly up or increased 0.81 pct and closed at 497 points up just 4 points from last week closing.
In the Far East/SE Asia, the freight rates were fairly steady and the supramax charter rates (delivery Singapore) were being rated around $12,500-13,000 per day for a trip to India. Panamax charter rates were quite soft and ships were reported fixed delivery Shanghai area around $ 6,500 per day for trip to India. Next week freight rates are expected to be flat to soft.
The average charter rates were for Cape reported at $ 3,735 per day , Panamax at $7,229 per day , Supramax at $ 9,587 per day and Handy size at $ 7,326 per day.
The futures for three years (2015-2017) was reported at around $14,000 per day for Cape, $ 9,000 per day for Panamax, $ 9,500 per day for Supramax and $ 8,500 per day for Handysize.
The route S8 route for supramax was steady and was up by 1.80 pct closing at $ 9,897 per day (last week $ 9,722 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be steady next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was almost steady down by only 0.76 pct closing at $ 61.38 per barrel (last week $ 61.85 per barrel). The bunker prices also softened and closed at $ 331.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 19th Dec 2014).
