SPOT FREIGHT RATES IMPROVED SLIGHTLY OVER PREVIOUS WEEK
 COALspot.com: The BDI was up 5.41 pct week on week and closed at 1,324 points on Friday. All the segments were up this week except Panamax index.
The Cape index was up 3.65 pct and closed at 3,038 points. In the meantime, the Panamax index was down 3.91 pct week on week and closed at 1,055 points.
The Supramax index was up 7.65 pct and the handy size index was up 2.66 percent on Friday.
In the Far East/SE Asia the freight rates were firm and the supramax charter rates for delivery Singapore was reported at around US$ 11,500 per day for trip to India.
Panamax charter rates were also firm this week and as reported, the ships were fixed at around US$ 11,000 per day for trip to India delivery Shanghai area. Freight rates are expected to be firm next week.
The average charter rates were at US$ 22,525 per day for cape, US$ 8,443 per day for Panamax , US$ 9,848 per day for Supramax and US$ 6,706 per day for Handy size.
The futures for three years (2015-2017) were reported at around US$ 16,000 per day for Cape, US$ 10,000 per day Panamax, US$ 10,000 per day Supramax and US$ 8,500 per day Handy size.
The route S8 route for supramax firmed up this week or increased 15.33 pct week on week and closed at US$ 8,717 per day (last week US$ 7,558 per day).
Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be steady next week.
The Brent crude oil prices firmed up by 3.13 pct closing at US$ 80.36 per barrel (last week US$ 77.92 per barrel). The bunker prices closed at US$ 469.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 21st Nov 2014).
