ONE YEAR CHARTER RATES FOR SUPRAMAX WAS AT AROUND USD 18,500 - VISTAAR SINGAPORE
 COALspot.com (Singapore) : The freight market was flat this week with hardly any change in the BDI.The cape was up by about 4 pct and closed at 5,385. Panamax continued to drop and closed at 3,183 points down by almost 10 pct. The Supramax and Handysize was flat and closed at 2,081 points and 887 points.
The average charters rates at the close of the last week was at Cape / USD 57,996; Panamax / USD 25,534 ; Supramax / USD 21,755 and Handysize / USD 12,794. The BDI seems to have a resistance level around 3,500 points and expected to remain around these levels for next few weeks.
The congestion in Australia continues to be high with 112 vessels waiting EC Australia and 22 ships waiting WC Audtralia. The waiting in EC India ports Paradip and Visakhapatnam continues , the congestion is mainly due to clearance of cargo from port.
The iron ore import by China continued to remain firm for last couple of weeks and however is expected to weaken a bit as it is likely that the Chinese may import more through long term and volume is also expected to reduce for the balance year, if this happens the spot market may soften. The coal import by China also has reduced considerably.
The Supramax from India to China continued to enjoy good charter rates and the Iron Ore charterers having to pay higher freight, however the market softened slightly for ships opening ECI to China and were seen getting charter rates around USD 28,000 per day.
The Far East / South East Asia also saw some softening with Supramax vessels aiming around USD 16,000-17,000 per day compared to 18,500-19,000 per day last week.
One year charter rates for Supramax was at around USD 18,500 per day and short period rates for vessels opeing Far East.South East Asia was around USD 19,000-20,000 pday said, Capt.Reddy, MD of Vistaar Shipping, Singapore, a experinced ship operator in Singapore.
The crude prices was volatile and closed firm with brent crude closing at around US$ 70 per barrel. The bunker prices for IFO(380 cst) prices ex Singapore was firm at USD 428-430 pmt.
