CAPE INDEX WAS UP 46.65% WEEK ON WEEK
 COALspot.com: The BDI and Cape index continued the strong upward trend this week. The BDI was up 19.80 pct and Cape index was up by 46.65 percent week on week. The BDI was closed at 1428 and the Cape index was closed at 3552 points on 31 October 2014.
The Panamax index was also firm this week or up 10 pct and closed at 1233 points. However, the Supramax index was fell just 0.89 pct and closed at 892 points while the handy size index was lost around 4.50 pct and closed at 467 points.
In the Far East/SE Asia the freight rates were steady and the supramax charter rates delivery Singapore was reported fixed around US$ 10,000 per day. Panamax charter activities were also steady this week. Freight rates are expected to be steady next week.
The cape size charter rates continued to be quite firm and the average charter rates were also up by were almost double as compared to last week’s trend The cape average charter rates were up 51 percent compared to last week.
The Cape average charter rate was reported at US$ 24,413 per day , Panamax was at US$ 9,883 per day , Supramax was at US$ 9,326 per day and Handy size was at US$ 6,839 per day.
The three years futures (2015-2017) was at around US$ 17,500 per day for Cape, US$ 10,500 per day for Panamax, US$ 10,500 per day for Supramax and for Handy size was at around US$ 9,000 per day.
The route S8 route for supramax was almost at same levels and closed at US$ 7,459 per day (last week US$ 7,448 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be flat to steady next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was soft or US$ 85.86 per barrel (last week US$ 86.13 per barrel). The bunker prices remained steady closing at US$ 477.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 31st Oct 2014).
