U.S. COAL PRODUCTION UP BY 3.6% WEEK - ON - WEEK
 COALspot.com – United States the world's one of largest coal producers, produced approximately 19.20 million short tons (mmst) of coal in a week (For the week ended October 11, 2014), EIA said in its latest report.
This production estimate is 3.6% higher than last week's estimate and 7.0% higher than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2013, says, the latest EIA report. East of the Mississippi River produced totalled 7.8 mmst (down 3.70% week on week) and west of the Mississippi River produced totalled 11.4 mmst (up 4.58% week on week).
U.S. year-to-date coal production totalled 772.80 mmst, 0.1% lower than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2013, EIA’s October 16, report says.
September 2014 Coal Production
US produced approximately 83.2 million short tons of coal in September 2014. This production estimate is 2.1% higher than the estimate for the same month in 2013 or 0.71% lower month over month.
Coal production in east of the Mississippi River totaled 35.3 mmst (up 3.21 per cent month on month) and in west of the Mississippi River totaled 48.0 mmst (down 3.22 per cent month on month) in September 2014, EIA said in its October 9 report.
