BALTIC DRY INDEX SLIPS 1.14%; BALTIC PANAMAX INDEX GAINED 9.91% WEEK ON WEEK
 COALspot.com: The BDI was down by 1.14 pct and closed at 1037 points this Friday.
The Cape index was down significantly week on week or lost 5.07% and closed at 1758 points while the panamax index was firmed up by 9.91 pct to 887 points.
The Supramax index was soft and lost 2.37 points week on week and closed at 1028 points on Friday. The handy size index was almost steady up by 0.76 pct closing at 530 points.
In the Feast/SE Asia the freight rates were steady on Supramax and Panamax by supported by coal shipments. The charter rates were remaining steady. Freight rates are expected to be flat to soft next week.
The average charter rates was at US$ 11004 per day for Capes, US$ 7101 per day for Panamaxes, US$ 10745 per day for Supramaxes and US$ 7724 per day for Handy size.
The futures for three years (2015-2017) were quite higher than the existing average charter rates. The averages three years charter rates were reported at around US$ 18000 per day for Cape, US$ 10500 per day for Panamax, US$ 11000 per day for Supramax and , US$ 9500 per day for Handysize.
The route S8 route for Supramax was weak and it was fell 2.75 pct closed at US$ 8142 per day (last week US$ 8372 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be flat to soft next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was soft and was down by 4.83 pct closing at US$ 92.31 per barrel (last week US$ 97.00 per barrel). The bunker prices softened closing at US$ 549.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 3rd Oct 2014).
