FREIGHT RATES FROM INDONESIA TO INDIA IS EXPECTED TO BE FIRM NEXT WEEK - CAPT. REDDY
 COALspot.com: The freight market shows a bit weak trend this week.
The BDI was lost 2.42% week on week and closed at 1049 points on 26 September 2014.
The cape index was also down 12.31% and closed at 1852 points while the panamax index was fell slightly or lost 0.86% and closed at 807 points.
However, the supramax index was up 2.33% week on week to 1053 points. The handysize index was also increased by 5.62% and closed at 526 points.
According to Capt. Reddy of Vistaar India, in the Far East/SE Asia the coal shipments were firm and the freight rates were steady on Supramax and Panamax with charter rate remaining steady. Freight rates expected to be flat to soft next week.
The average charter rates cape was reported at US$ 12,239 per day , Panamax at US$ 6,462 per day , Supramax at US$ 11,009 per day and Handysize at US$ 7,676 per day.
In the meantime, the futures for three years (2015-2017) were reported higher than spot average rates of Cape, Panamax and Supramax vessels. Cape were reported at around US$ 19,000 per day, Panamax at US$ 10,500 per day, Supramax at US$ 11,000 per day, Handysize at US$ 9,500 per day.
The route S8 route for supramax was slightly up (+0.65% week on week) closed at US$ 8,372 per day (last week U$ 8617 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be firm next week, says Capt. Reddy.
The Brent crude oil prices was almost at same levels closing at US$ 97.00 per barrel (last week US$ 97.70 per barrel). The bunker prices softened closing at US$ 566.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 26th Sept 2014).
