FREIGHT RATES FROM INDONESIA TO INDIA IS EXPECTED TO BE STEADY NEXT WEEK - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com: This week the BDI and other segments saw some improvements. The BDI increased by 3.46 pct week on week and closed at 777 points.
Cape & Panamax Index
The cape index was closed slightly lower or lost just 0.85 percent and closed at 777 points on 8 August 2014. The Panamax index was increased 2.12 pct week on week and the index was closed at 624 while the supramax index was closed at 804 points after increase 10.44 percent.
The handy size index was slightly up or increased 1.68 pct and closed at 363 points.
In the Far East/SE Asia, the coal shipment movements were still quite low and charter rates on supramax and panamax were under pressure. Freight rates are expected to be flat to soft next week.
Average charter rates
The reported average charter rate for Cape was at US$ 8,504 per day, Panamax at US$ 4,963 per day , Supramax at US$ 8,406 per day and Handy size was at US$ 5,408 per day.
3 years futures
According to market reports, the futures for three years (2015-2017) were noted at US$ 19,000 per day for Cpae size vessels, U$ 10,500 per day for Panamax size ships. Supramax was reported at US$ 10,500 per day and Handysize wa at US$ 9,000 per day.
S8 route
The route S8 route for supramax slightly firmed up or up around 1.23 pct week on week and closed at US$ 6,558 per day (last week US$ 6,478 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be steady next week.
Brent crude oil
The Brent crude oil prices was almost at same levels week on week or closed at US$ 105.02 per barrel on 8 August 2014 (last week the price of Brent oil was at US$ 104.84 per barrel). In the meantime, the bunker prices remained soft closed at US$ 598.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 8th Aug 2014).
