U.S WEEKLY COAL PRODUCTION UP AROUND 3.5% WEEK ENDED JULY 19
.jpg) COALspot.com – United States the world's second largest coal producer, produced approximately 19.00 million short tons (mmst) of coal in a week (For the week ended July 19, 2014), EIA said in its latest report.
This production estimate is 3.50% higher than the last week's estimate and 2.70% lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2013, says, the EIA report.
East of the Mississippi River produced totaled 8.20 mmst (up 15.49% week on week) and west of the Mississippi River produced totaled 10.80 mmst (down 1.88% week on week). U.S. year-to-date coal production totaled 537.90 mmst, 0.70% lower than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2013, EIA’s July, 24 report says.
June 2014 Coal Production
US produced approximately 78.5 million short tons of coal in June 2014. This production estimate is 1.0% lower than the estimate for the same month in 2013 or 5.53% lower month on month.
Coal production in east of the Mississippi River totalled 34.5 mmst (down 2.54 per cent month on month) and in west of the Mississippi River totalled 44.9 mmst (fall 5.87% per cent month on month) in June 2014, EIA said in its July 10 report.
OPEC Earnings
An another report of EIA shows that, according to EIA's estimation, members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), excluding Iran earned about $826 billion in net oil export revenues in 2013.
EIA further said, this was a 7% decrease from 2012 earnings, but still the second-largest earnings totals during the 1975-2013 period for which EIA has tracked OPEC oil revenues.
OPEC earnings declined largely for two reasons: a drop in OPEC oil production in 2013 (largely because of the supply disruption in Libya), and a 3% decline in average crude oil prices.
