INDONESIA'S STATE CONTROLLED COAL MINER BUKIT ASAM ENJOYED HIGHER SELLING PRICE DURING THIS STORMY MARKET

COALspot.com: PT Bukit Asam, the Indonesian government controlled coal miner announced today that, the company has produced 7.70 million tons of coal in first half this year. The company's first half of this year coal production up by 16% compared to the same period of last year volume of 6.66 million tons.

According to company's unaudited financial statement, PT. Bukit Asam's revenues during January - June 2014 has also increased by 18% to Indonesian Rupiah 6.43 trillion (approximately US$ 551,458,019) compared to same period last year. The company furhter said in its memo that, the increase in revenue was primarily due to an increase in selling prices as well measures taken by company to control its operation as well as production cost.

The average weighted selling price of coal in the period of January to June 2014 rose by 17% to Rp.728,111 (approximately US$ 62.45) per ton compared to Rp. 621,762 (approximately US$ 53.32) per ton for the same period last year. In the meantime, the average weighted export price during first half this year stood at US$ 72 per ton, the company's statement said.

The company's net profit for first half of this year increased by 33% to 1.16 trillion (approximately US$ 99,485,428) compared to 0.87 trillion (approximately US$ 74,614,071) for the same period last year. The company also indicated that, in the period January - June 2014, the GPM (Gross Profit Margin) and NPM (Net Profit Margin) recorded at 33% and 18% respectively.

The strip ratio for this first 6 months was slightly lower than the same period last year. According to company, the level of production was achieved on an average strip ratio of 4.07 compared to 4.21 the same period last year.

Coal hauling through its railway facilities was increased by 14% during January - June 2014 to 7.11 million tons. In the same time the company has hauled only 6.20 million tons for the same period in 2013. The company also hope that, railway performance is expected to increase steadily next quarter, since railway expansion is almost reaching its completion stage.
