PANAMAX INDEX BEING THE BIGGEST GAINER THIS WEEK; UP 52.75% W-O-W
 COALspot.com: This week there was some positive signs in all the sectors. The Panamax index being the biggest gainer this week after losing for several past weeks .
The BDI was up by 7.46 pct and closed at 893 points and the Cape index was also increased by 5.12 pct. Cape size index was closed at 1864 points.
After several weeks of downward trend the panamax index was up 52.74 pct and closed at 640 points. The Supramax index was almost flat and closing at 682 points, while the handy size index was down by 4.04 pct closing at 403 points.
In the Far East/SE Asia the charter rates on supramax was slightly firm with owners now asking around US$ 12,000 per day passing Singapore for a trip via Indonesia to India.
In the meantime, Panamax freights rates were up as owners asking around US$ 5,000 per day for Indonesia to India. Freight rates are expected to be steady to firm next week.
The average charter rates were at Cape/US$ 13,459 per day , Panamax/US$ 5,122 per day , Supramax/US$ 7,129 per day and Handy size/US$ 6,008 per day.
The futures for three years (2015-2017) was at around Cape/US$ 20,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 10,500 per day, Supramax/US$ 10,500 per day , Handy size/US$ 10,000 per day.
The route S8 route slightly firmed up and was up by 8.48 pct and closed at US$ 7,467 per day (last week US$ 6,883 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be firm/steady next week.
The Brent crude oil prices slightly softened and was down by 2.35 pct closing at 110.64 per barrel (last week US$ 113.30 per barrel). The bunker prices also closed lower at US$ 602.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 4th July 2014).
