COAL FREIGHT RATES FALL FURTHER ON LACK OF DEMANDS - CAPT. REDDY
 COALspot.com: The BDI softened this week as all segments fell this week. The Panamax sector being most affected. The Cape index was down 3.51 pct week on week and closed at 1730 points. The Panamax index was lost almost 20 points and closed at 582 points while the Supramax index was down 6.73 pc closed at 748 points for the same period. The Handysize index lost 4.57 pct and closed at 459 points.
In the Far East/SE Asia, the charter rates for supramax was soft and Supramaxes were reported fixed at around US$ 11,000 per day delivery Indonesia for a trip to India. Panamax rates were also weak this week with charter rates around US$ 6,000 for a trip to India. Freight rates expected to be flat to weak next week too.
The average charter rate was at Cape/US$ 13,050 per day , Panamax/US$ 4,670 per day , Supramax/US$ 7,822 per day and Handy size/US$ 6,833 per day.
The futures for three years (2015-2017) was at around Cape/US$ 20,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 11,000 per day, Supramax/US$ 11,000 per day , Handysize/US$ 10,000 per day.
The route S8 route continued to soften and was down by 12.01 pct closing at US$ 7,072 per day (last week US$ 8,038 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be flat to soft.
The Brent crude oil prices firmed up due to Iraq unrest and was up by 4.24 pct closing at 113.41per barrel (last week US$ 108.79 per barrel). The bunker prices also firmed and closed at US$ 614.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 13th June 2014).
