DRY BULK MARKET RATES FOR PANAMXES TO REMAIN VOLATILE; NO IMPROVEMENTS SEEN OVER THE WEEK
 COALspot.com: Cape index increase pushes BDI index to 989 points week on week. The BDI firmed up by 5.88 pct and closed at 989 points week ended 6 June 2014. The Cape size index increased sharply (up 28.53%) for week on week closed at 1793 points on 6 June 2014. The Panamax index was soft or decreased 16.62 pct for the same period closed at 727 points. The supramax index also fell 3.37 pct closed at 802 points. The handy size index was almost at same levels closed at 481 points.
In the Far East/SE Asia the charter rates on supramax was soft. The Supramaxes were reported fixed at around US$ 10,000 per day delivery Indonesia for trip to India which indicated that there were no many cargoes in the market same as last week.
Panamax rates were also soft this week. Freight rates are expected to be flat to soft next week.
The average charter rates were at Cape/US$ 13,370 per day , Panamax/US$ 5,838 per day , Supramax/US$ 8,389 per day and Handy size/US$ 7,135 per day.
The futures for three years (2015-2017) were at around Cape/US$ 21,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 12,000 per day, Supramax/US$ 12,000 per day , Handy size/US$ 9,500 per day.
The route S8 route was soft or down 15.19 pct week on week and closed at US$ 8,038 per day (last week US$ 9,478 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be flat to soft.
The Brent crude oil prices was bit soft closing at 108.79 barrel (last week US$ 109.41 per barrel). The bunker prices firmed were at same levels and closed at 597.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 6th June 2014).
