FREIGHT RATES FROM SOUTH KALIMANTAN TO EAST COAST INDIAN PORTS WERE ASSESSED AT $9.50/MT
 COALspot.com: The BDI was closed at 964 points down by 6.13 pct week on week. The Cape Index was lost 172 points or 11.24% week on week and closing at 1358 points. The Panamax index was also down by 3.84 points closing at 1001 points while the supramax index was down by 3.67 pct closing at 866 points. The handy size index also was down by 1.03 pct closing at 480 points.
In the Far East/SE Asia the charter rates on supramax was bit firm steady and most vessels were rating around US$ 10,000 per day delivery Mid China for East Coast India. Owners were not keen to go to WC India due to starting of Monsoons. Panamax rates were steady . Panamax freight rate from South Kalimantan to east coast Indian ports were assessed for next week at $9.50/mt, up 50 cents from this week.
Freight rates expected to be steady/firm next week.
The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 9,721 per day , Panamax/US$ 8,016 per day , Supramax/US$ 9,052 per day and Handy size/US$ 7,089 per day.
The futures for three years (2015-2017) was at around Cape/US$ 22,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 12,500 per day, Supramax/US$ 12,500 per day , Handy size/US$ 9,500 per day.
The Brent crude oil prices firmed up slightly by 1.00 pct and closed at US$ 110.36 per barrel (last week US$ 109.75 per barrel). The bunker prices firmed up slightly and closed at 600.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 23rd May 2014).
