INDONESIA TO INDIA FREIGHT RATES ARE EXPECTED TO BE STEADY NEXT WEEK
COALspot.com: The freight market seems to have bottomed out and saw some marginal gains in all segments, said Capt. Reddy of Vistaar Shipping India.
The BDI was increased by 3.82 percent closing at 967 points. The cape size index was also increased by 6.60 pct to 1696 points week on week.The Panamax index was followed cape and BDI indexes as the panamax index was up 6.40 percent closing at 864 points for the same period. The supramax index was almost at same levels closed at 912 points while the handy size index was lost ground or lost 3 pct closing week on week.
In the Far East/SE Asia, the supramax charter rates continued fell and most vessels were rating around US$ 12,000 per day passing Singapore. However charterers were rating lower than US$ 12,000 per day. Panamax rates were also continued soft with owners rating around US$ 8,500 per day delivery South China. Freight rates are expected to be steady/firm next week.
The average charter rates were at Cape/US$ 9,895 per day , Panamax/US$ 6,953 per day , Supramax/US$ 9,531 per day and Handy size/US$ 7,696 per day.
The futures for three years (2014-2016) was at around Cape/US$ 23,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 12,500 per day, Supramax/US$ 12,500 per day , Handy size/US$ 10,000 per day.
The route S8 route softened further and was down slightly or lost 0.67 pct closing at US$ 9,591 per day (last week US$ 9,656 per day ). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be steady next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was almost steady as was at same levels closing at US$ 109.58 per barrel (last week US$ 109.53 per barrel). The bunker prices was almost at same levels and closed at 590.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 25th April 2014).
