Q1 2015 DELIVERY COAL SWAP CLOSED AT 2.62% HIGHER THAN Q2 2014 CLOSING SWAPS
 COALspot.com: API 8 CFR South China Coal swaps for average Q2 14 deliveries lost 2.68 percent month on month and closed at US$ 76.20 per mt as on Friday 21 February 2014. The CFR South China Coal swap for delivery Q4 2014 lost on a month but gained on day and week according to SGX AsiaClear OTC coal swap's reports released week ended 21 February 2014.
SGX has launched SGX Thermal Coal Futures on 21 Oct 2013.
Q4 delivery swap closed at US$ 77.70 a ton on 21 February 2014, a US$ 0.28 higher from a week and US$ 1.60 lower from month on a month. API 8 CFR South China coal shipment price for delivery Q1’ 15, lost US$ 0.13 on week and gained $ 0.27 on a day.
Q1’15 delivery swap closed at US$ 78.20 pmt on 21 February 2014, a $ 2.00 higher compared to Q2’ 2014 closing.
API 8 CFR South China Coal swap for average Q4’ 2014 deliveries closed US$ 1.50 (1.97%) higher compared to average Q2’ 2014 delivery price of US$ 76.20 on 21 February 2014. In the meantime, the average Q1 2015 coal swap was also closed US$ 2.00 PMT (2.62%) higher than Q2’ 2014 swaps for the same period. According to this last week's swaps trend, Q4 2014 and Q1 2015 coal swaps are higher compared to Q2 prices. Q2 & Q4 delivery prices also gained week and month but fell month on a month.
API 8 CFR South China Coal for Q2’ 2014 delivery swap was achieved a highest price (US$ 76.73) on 17 and 18 February 2014, and swap experienced a lowest closing (US$ 76.17) on 20 February 2014.
API 8 CFR South China Coal swaps for deliveries Q2, Q4 fell on a month. Q1’ 15 delivery swaps fell on day and week.
Second half of this year is still showing a positive trend for coal swaps. Indonesia's plan to cap output of coal in 2014 may support strengthening of coal prices in coming months. However, another plan that to increase the royalty for coal for the small scale or medium scale miners (IUP holders) might backfire as country's competitiveness on coal supply might fall under risk if the cost of coal or net export price increase drastically due to higher royalty.
World's coal industry is still struggling to catch-up, but it is seemed to be far away to reach the miners target.
