SHIPPING POISED TO RALLY AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF DROP
 COALspot.com: The freight market was steady to firm with the dry bulk index up by 6.24 pct closing at 1,175 points week on week and the cape index was also up by 9.46 pct closing at 1,701 points for the same period.
The panamax index was a bit soft down by 5.11 pct closing at 1,244 points week ended 21 February 2014. The Supramax index was firm up by 10.02 pct closing at 1,098 points. The handy size index was almost steady up by only 0.89 pct closing at 677 points.
In the far east/SE Asia the charter rates on supramax firmed up and most vessels were rating around US$ 10000 per day DOP Mid China and generally the freight market from Indonesia to India and china had firmed up. The freight rates expected to remain firm tomorrow also.
The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 10,144 per day , Panamax/US$ 10,000 per day , Supramax/US$ 11,476 per day and Handy size/US$ 9,805 per day.
The futures for three years (2014-2016) was at around Cape/US$ 22,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 13,000 per day, Supramax/US$ 12,500 per day , Handy size/US$ 10,000 per day.
The route S8 route was sharply up this week (increased 38 pct ) closing at US$ 10,489 per day (last week US$ 7,600 per day ) and the freights rates have been up from Indonesia to India.
The Brent crude oil prices was almost at same levels and closed at US$ 109.85 per barrel (last week US$ 109.08 per barrel). The bunker prices was steady and closed at 617.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 21 Feb 2014).
