PERUVIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR MINING AFFAIRS WILL BE KEY NOTE SPEAKER AT THE COLOMBIAN COAL CONFERENCE 2014
 Press Release: The High Commissioner for Mining Affairs in the Presidency of the Peruvian Council of Ministers, General (R) Daniel Urresti Elera, has confirmed his attendance as key note speaker at the XVI Colombian Coal Conference, during the first session on Thursday March 27 - Sheraton Hotel - Bogota.
In the most recent interview with the official gazette El Peruano, Urresti said that will not stop fighting against illegal mining and proposed that this activity must be included in the law against organized crime. In his remarks said that illegal mining could be eradicated despite its economic power. He clarified that his commission has been commanded by the President of the Republic in order to end the illegal mining and create the proper regulation for the informal mining until it become formal. They have his support and that's what allows them to move as quickly as they have done in the last four months, time during he has been in charge of this effort.
In Peru the illegal and informal mining is being doing in 21 regions, but 50 % is concentrated in the triangle formed by the regions Madre de Dios, Cusco and Puno. Most predation is not at Madre de Dios, but on the high side of Suches and Ramis rivers, which feed the Titicaca Lake, in Puno. For this reason, and in order to share information, experiences and strategies that has been developed in this country, he has accepted the invitation of the Latin American Association of Mining and Energy, ALAME, to attend as a key note speaker in the academic sessions of Colombian Coal Conference 2014.
