SUPRAMAX STILL AT AROUND US$ 5K + BB 50K DELIVERY KALIMANTAN FOR A TRIP TO INDIA - CAPT. REDDY
 COALspot.com: The BDI was down by 1.71 pct and closed at 1091 points week ended 7 February 2014. The BDI seemed to reach the bottom as the cape index started to slightly move up.
The Cape index was up by 4.2 pct closing at 1588 points week on week and the panamax and supramax indexes continued to be soft and was down by 2.47 pct and 6.73 pct respectively. The handy size index was also down by 1.46 pct closed at 674 points.
In the far east/SE Asia the charter rates for supramax and panamax continued to be under pressure and ships few were ballasting towards Singapore . The supramax rates were still at around US$ 5,000 + Ballast bonus 50,000 delivery Kalimantan for trip to India.
The Pananamx ships were being fixed at around US$ 8,000-9,000 per day for round voyage.
With Chinese new year holidays over it will be interesting to see if the market starts to move up in next 2/3 weeks
The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 8,657 per day , Panamax/US$ 10,417 per day , Supramax/US$ 9,717 per day and Handy size/US$ 9,684 per day.
The futures for three years (2014-2016) was at around Cape/US$ 19,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 12,500 per day, Supramax/US$ 12,500 per day , Handy size/US$ 10,000 per day.
The route S8 route was at US$ 4,631 per day , which is almost at the lowest levels and expected freight levels to improve in the coming weeks.
The Brent crude oil prices was down by 1.34 pct and closed at US$ 109.57 per barrel (last week it was at US$ 106.40 per barrel). The bunker prices was steady and closed at 624.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 7th Feb 2014).
