FREIGHT RATES FALL FURTHER ON LACK OF CARGOES - SOLYM CARRIERS
 COALspot.com: The freight market has continued to soften further this week with BDI down by 12.31 pct. BDI was closed at 1,246 points week ended 24 January 2014.
The cape size index dropped by almost 20 pct week on week and closed at 1,723 points. The Panamax index was also fell 8.12 pct on week and closed at 1,437 points and the Supramax followed the trend cape and panama for the same period. Supraax fell 4.55 pct and closed at 4.55 pct. The Handy size index was almost steady fell just only 1 pct week on week.
In the feast/SE Asia the charter rates on supramax continued to be soft due to less demand from Indonesia. Spot rates on Supramax from Indonesia to EC India were being rated at US$ 10.00 pmt and on Pananax also around at US$ 10 pmt. The freight market is expected to be continue the same trend next week due Chinese New Year holidays coming up.
The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 10,608 per day , Panamax/US$ 12,921 per day , Supramax/US$ 12,448 per day and Handy size/US$ 10,465 per day.
The futures for three years (2014-2016) was at around Cape/US$ 19,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 13,000 per day, Supramax/US$ 13,000 per day and Handy size/US$ 10500 per day.
The supramax index in the feast (S8 route) softened further and fell 16.43 pct week on week and charter rates were soft. The freight rates from WC India to china was fairly steady with supramax rating around US$ 11,000 per day.
The Brent crude oil prices was dropped 0.72 pct and closed at US$ 107.85 per barrel (last week US$ 106.48 per barrel). The bunker prices was steady and closed at 613.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 24th Jan 2014).
