SUPRAS AND HANDIES : INDONESIAN COAL CARGOES ARE SUPPORTING HEALTHY ACTIVITY LEVELS - INTERMODAL
 The Dry Bulk market has pooled back a bit this week after firming for two weeks in a row. The BDI is s holding above 1,100 points and despite the small pullback week-on-week, which is entirely attributed to Cape rates softening, the positive sentiment that has persisted for throughout most of the summer period.
Fixing activity for Capes was a bit subdued in both basins. The segment witnessed an absence of an substantial amount of fresh enquiries, especially in the Atlantic basin, where things quietened down significantly towards the end of the week. Activity in the Pacific basin held a bit better with the rate for the trip back to the Continent/Med area noting the biggest increase.
Rates for Panamaxes held their levels from the week before, while the average rate noted a slight increase. The Pacific basin was more generous on fresh cargoes for Panamaxes as well, with the North Pacific round voyage rate strengthening the most, while the T/C market, where things remain unchanged, is s reflecting the flat movement of the sector in the past month.
Supras and Handies moved sideways, as rates for both segments were almost unchanged on a week basis. The average rate for Supras is steadily approaching the $ 10,000/day, staying in line with what FFs have been pointing to. Indonesian coal cargoes are supporting healthy activity levels, while things in the Atlantic seem to be a bit quieter.
