SUPRAMAX FREIGHT RATES FROM INDONESIA TO INDIA CONTINUED TO BE SOFT - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com : The freight market was soft this week with all indices down , the reason could be long weekend holidays in Indonesia, Singapore and Middle East.
The BDI was down by 64 points closing at 1001 points on week and the Cape index was also down by 137 points closing at 1813 points for the same period. The panamax index continued to soften and it was down by 73 points closing at 948 points. The supramax was the only index which was steady and was marginally up by 3 points closing at 911 points. The handy size index was down by 8 points closing at 521 points.
The iron ore imports to China was steady as mills appeared to take advantage of the current low prices.
The Panamax freight expected to be flat to soft this week in the SE Asia region. The Supramax freight rates from Indonesia to India continued to be soft and the supramax were fixed at around US$ 9000-9500 passing Singapore.
The average charter rate for cape at US$ 10,620 per day , Panamax at US$ 7,541 per day , Supramax at US$ 9,524 per day and Handy size at US$ 7,617 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) were at around Cape/US$ 15,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 10,000 per day, Supramax/US$ 10,000 per day and Handy size/US$ 9,000 per day.
The supramax index in the far east (S8 route) was down by 4.29 pct and closed at US$ 7923 per day (last week US$ 8278 per day) .The route S7 was at same levels closing at US$ 7875 per day (Last week US$ 7875 per day) . The freight market in this sector is expected to be flat to soft next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was down by 2.08 pct and closed at US$ 106.68 per barrel (last week US$ 108.95 per barrel). The bunker prices ended slightly lower at US$ 601.00 pmt (IFO 380 CST ex. Singapore on 9th August 2013).
