INDONESIA TO INDIA SUPRAMAX FREIGHT SOFT DUE TO HOLIDAYS IN INDONESIA - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com : The freight market was fairly steady this week with the BDI recovering towards north since second half of the week with the support of Cape Index. The BDI was down by 17 points closing at 1065 points and the Cape index was up by 77 points closing at 1950 points week on week. However, the panamax index continued to soften, down by 83 points closing at 1021 points on week. The supramax and handy size index were both down by about 1 pct closing at 908 points and 529 points.
According to market news, the Iron Ore exports to China still fairly steady and the volume for 2013 expected to be around 800-850 mill tons. The Panamax freight expected to be flat to soft next week. The Supramax freight rates from Indonesia to India was soft probably due to Hari Raya Idul Fitri holidays (end of Ramadan) on 8th/9th August.
The average charter rate was for Cape/$ 12,191 per day , Panamax/$ 8,120 per day , Supramax/$ 9,494 per day and Handy size/$ 7,751 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) were at around $ 15,000 per day for Cape, $ 10,000 per day for Panamax, $ 10,000 for Supramax and $ 9000 per day for Handy size.
The supramax index in the far east (S8 route) was down by 4.83 pct and closed at 8,278 per day (last week $ 8,698 per day) on week. In the meantime, the route S7 was at same levels and closed at $ 7875 per day (Last week $ 7875 per day) on week. The freight market in this sector is expected to be fairly steady to firm next week.
The Brent crude oil price was marginally up by 1.21 pct and closed at $ 108.95 per barrel (last week $ 107.65 per barrel) week on week. The bunker prices ended slightly lower at $ 600.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 2nd August 2013).
