INDONESIA TO INDIA SUPRAMAX FREIGHT RATES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN STEADY - CAPT.REDDY
 COALspot.com : The freight market seemed to soften this week with BDI , Cape and Panamax indices dropped average 5 percent on week.
The BDI was down by 56 points on week and closed at 1082 points week ended 26 July 2013. The Cape index was down 114 points or 5.74 percent on week and closed at 1873 points.
The panamax was also down 68 points (5.8 percent) closed at 1104 points on 26 July 2013. The supramax index was the only segment where the index was slightly up by 19 points closing at 917 points week ended 26 July 2013 and the Handysize index was down 10 points closed at 534 points.
The iron ore imports to China still seems fairly steady. The Panamax freight expected to be flat to soft next week. In the meantime, the Supramax freight rates from Indonesia to India expected to remain steady.
The average charter rates were for Cape/US$ 11,948 per day , Panamax/ US$ 8,780 per day , Supramax/ US$ 9,592 per day and Handy size/ US$ 7,827 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) were at around Cape/ US$ 15,000 per day, Panamax/ US$ 10,000 per day, Supramax/ US$ 10,000 per day , Handy size/ US$ 9,000 per day.
The supramax index in the far east (S8 route) was down 1.55 pct and closed at US$ 8698 per day (last week US$ 8,835 per day) .The route S7 was at same levels closed at US$ 7,875 per day (Last week US$ 7,875 per day).
The freight market in this sector is expected to be fairly steady/firm next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was marginally down by 0.96 pct and closed at US$ 107.65 per barrel (last week US$ 108.70 per barrel). The bunker prices ended slightly lower at US$ 597.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 26th July 2013).
