INDONESIA TO INDIA PANAMAX FREIGHT : FLAT TO SOFT - CAPT. REDDY
 COALspot.com - The demand for iron ore picked up and its pushed up the cape size index by 7.86 pct. Cape index closed at 1,344 points. The BDI closed slightly higher at 878 points (up by 0.80 pct). However the Panamax index was down by 7 pct closing at 1,006 points , while the supramax index was down by 2.66 pct closing at 876 points. Handy size index was almost at same levels closing at 546 points.
The charter rates for Indonesia to India for Panamax and Supramax was flat to soft. The average charter rate for cape size ships was around US$ 5,694 per day , Panamax / US$ 8037 per day , Supramax / US$ 9161 per day and Handysize / US$ 8043 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) was at around Cape/US$ 14,000 per day, Panamax / US$ 10,000 per day, Supramax / US$ 10,000 per day and Handy size / US$ 9,000 per day.
The supramax index in the far east (S8 route) was down by 2.61 pct and closed at 8658 per day (last week US$ 8,890 per day) .The route S7 was at same levels and closed at US$ 7,875 per day (Last week it was at US$ 7,875 per day) .
The freight market in S7 & S8 routes are expected to be steady/firm next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was up by 1.00 pct closing at US$ 104.19 per barrel (last week US$ 103.16 per barrel). The bunker prices was also lower closing at same levels and closed at US$ 611.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 3rd May 2013).
