TNEB HAS OPENED 4.2 MILLION TONS IMPORTED COAL TENDER
 COALspot.com - TANGEDCO, the state run utility TANGEDCO (formerly known as TNEB), Tamil Nadu state owned electricity company has opened bids to purchase 4.2 million tons of imported coal and negotiation are pending for finalization.
According to available information, between lowest and second lowest bidder would be sharing the quantity of 3.35 million mt in the ratio of 60:40 for delivery through Ennore and Karaikal ports subject to second lowest bidder matching the lowest price.
In the meantime delivery through Tuticorin port would be awarded only to lowest bidder. 850,000 MT of coal will be delivered through Tuticorin port. The lowest bidder has offered at around US$ 108.84 per MT for coal with gross calorific value (adb) 6000 kcal/kg basis, TM (ARB) – 15%, Ash (ADB) – 6% and Sulphur (ADB) – 0.80% supply through Tuticorin port. Handymax / Supramax ships are expected to be used to deliver the cargo to Tuticoring ports.
KISPL is become lowest bidder to supply 6000 GAD coal through Tuticorin. (KISPL – US$108.84 PMT, MSTC – US$ 110.79 PMT and Adani US$ - 111.88 PMT), sources familiar to tender said.
Our sources further said that, Adani, one of the largest coal importer and trader has become lowest bidder to supply coal with GCV 6000 kcal/kg on adb basis, through Ennore / Karaikal Port. Delivered price of US$ 105.58 per MT (Adani) is become lowest price and followed by US$ 107.19 (MSTC) and US$ 110.84 (KISPL). Panamax ships will be used to supply coal through Ennore / Karaikal ports.
The delivery period of this coal shipments are expected to be commenced June 2013 and supply will be until November 2013.
TNPL, an another state owned utility has brought 300,000 mt of imported coal early this year with the similar coal quality at US$ 75.95 per mt delivered through Tuticorin port. The delivery period of TNPL contract for 6 months starting from March 2013 to July 2013.
