INDIA - INDONESIA SUPRAMAX FREIGHT : FIRM TREND
 COALspot.com – This week freight market was raised and remained firm in all segments.
The BDI was up by 6.70 pct closed at 843 points, and the Cape index was up by 1.53 pct closed at 1262 points. The Panamax index remained firm and was up by 8.50 points closed at 1124 points on Friday. The Supra max saw the biggest gain this week up by 13.50 pct closing at 864 points. The handy size index was up by 8.05 pct closing at 483 points.
The Panamax market remained firm because of grain cargoes out of South America. There have been a good number of fixtures for Panamax period vessels and being fixed at almost US$ 10,000 per day.
"The surpamax rates from Indonesia to India also showing a firm trend<" said, Capt. Reddy, Director of Vistaar Shipping Singapore.
The average charter rate was at Cape / US$ 4,483 per day, Panamax / US$ 8,994 per day, Supramax / US$ 9,038 per day and Handy size / US$ 7,193 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) was at around Cape / US$ 13,500 per day, Panamax / US$ 9,500 per day, Supramax / US$ 9,500 per day, Handy size / US$ 8,500 per day.
The Supramax index in the far east (S8 route) was sharply up by 17.07 pct and closed at US$ 8,605 per day (last week US$ 7,350 per day) .The route S7 was also sharply up by 21.18 pct closing at US$ 6,480 per day (Last week US$ 5,347 per day).
According to Vistaar Shipping Singapore, the freight market in this sector (S7) is expected to be steady / firm next week.
The Brent crude oil prices nearly remained at same levels as last week and closed at US$ 110.85 per barrel (last week US$ 110.40 per barrel). The bunker price was closely steady and closed at US$ 636.00 pmt (IFO 380 CST. ex-Singapore on 8th March 2013).
