FREIGHT MARKET: FLAT TO SOFT - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The freight market was soft and all the indices were down except for handy size.
The BDI was down 4.66 pct closing at 798 points.. The Cape index was down by 5.29 pct closing at 1520 points . The panamax and supramax indices were also down and closed at 718 points ( down by 2.91 pct) and 711 points ( down by 2.60 pct) respectively. The handy size index was up by 1.06 pct closing at 475 points.
The freight rates from Indonesia to India was soft and ships were being fixed at around US$ 7000 + ballast bonus US$ 100000 arrival Kalimantan.
The average charter rates were at Cape/US$ 7,922 per day , Panamax/US$ 5,690 per day , Supramax/US$ 7,426 per day and Handysize/US$ 7,094 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) was at around Cape/US$ 13,500 per day, Panamax/US$ 8,500 per day, Supramax/US$ 9,500 per day , Handy size/US$ 8,000 per day.
The supramax index in the feast (S8 route) was soft and was down by 10.22 pct closed at US$ 6,253 per day (last week it was at US$ 6,965 per day) .The route S7 was also down by 8.128 pct closed at US$ 4038 per day (Last week US$ 4,395 per day) . The freight market in this sector is expected to be flat/soft this week
The congestion in EC Australia was at 72 vessels this week (last week 65 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/5, DBCT/15, Gladstone/20, Abbot Point/3, New Castle/26, Port Kembla/3 vessels.
The Brent crude oil prices was slightly up by 1.36 pct and closed at US$ 113.28 per barrel (last week US$ 111.76 per barrel). The bunker prices was almost at same levels and closed at US$ 631.50 pmt (IFO 380 CST ex Singapore on 25th Jan 2013).
