INDONESIA TO INDIA SUPRAMAX FREIGHT RATES ARE EXPECTED TO BE FIRM - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The freight market was buoyant this week with all sectors up except for the Cape size index. The BDI was up by 5.21 pct closing at 1090 points. The cape size index was down by 2.51 pct closing at 2288 points , whereas panama index was up by 14.33 points closing at 1013 points. The Supramax and Handy size index were also up closing at 724 points (up by 7.42 pct) and 431 points (up by 6.12 pct ) respectively.
The Supramax freight market from Indonesia to India was firm and the freight rates are expected to be up next week too.
The average charter rates were at Cape/US$ 16,412 per day , Panamax/US$ 8,091 per day , Supramax/US$ 7,566 per day and Handy size/US$ 6,357 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) was at around Cape/US$ 15,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 9,500 per day, Supramax/US$ 9,500 per day and Handy size/US$ 8,000 per day.
The supramax index in the far east (S8 route) was up by 9.48 pct and closed at US$ 8,939 per day (last week it was at US$ 8165 per day). S7 route was also up by 12.62 pct and closed at US$ 5192 per day (last week it was US$ 4,610 per day) . Both routes likely to be firm next week.
The congestion in EC Australia was at 44 vessels this week (last week 40 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/3, DBCT/11, Gladstone/12, Abbot Point/Nil, New Castle/14, Port Kembla/4 vessels.
The Brent crude oil prices was slightly up by 2.01 pct and closed at US$ 111.39 per barrel (last week US$ 109.19 per barrel). The bunker prices closed higher at US$ 609.50 (last week US$ 611.00 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 23rd Nov 2012.
