THE IRON ORE AND COAL PRICES MOVEMENTS REMAINS LOW - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com The market remained soft with all the sectors soft.
The BDI and was down by 4.67 pct closing at 940 points, on Friday 9 November 2012. The cape index was also down by 4.38 pct closing at 2203 points. The Panamax index continued to soften and the index was down by 5.74 pct closed at 722 points last Friday. The Supramax and Handysize index remained soft and closed at 649 points (down by 2.99 pct) and 407 points (down by 3.55 pct).
The Supramax freight market from Indonesia to India was fairly steady last week . The charter rates for vessels delivery Singapore seemed to firm up and fixtures reported around US$ 12000 per day for trip via Indonesia to India. The Supramax freight expected to be steady to firm next week and the panamax freights also expected to be soft.
Short period rates for Panamax and supramax was around US$ 8000-8500 per day.
"The iron ore and coal prices movements remains low and the freight market expected to be steady next week”, said, Capt. Reddy, director of Vistaar Shipping, Singapore.
The average charter rates was at Cape / $ 14554 per day , Panamax / $ 5788 per day , Supramax / $ 6788 per day and Handy size / $ 6021 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) was at around Cape/$ 15,000 per day, Panamax/$ 9,500 per day, Supramax/$ 9,500 per day and Handysize/$ 8,000 per day.
The supramax index in the far east (S8 route) was almost at same levels (down by 1.21 pct) and closed at $ 7802 per day (last week $ 7709 per day) and S7 route was down by 1.25 pct and closed at $ 4273 per day (last week $ 4327 per day) . Both routes are likely to be flat to week next week.
The congestion in EC Australia was at 39 vessels this week (last week 50 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Haypoint/4, DBCT/10, Gladstone/12, Abbot Point/Nil, New Castle/8, Port Kembla/3 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 36 vessels (last week 31 vessels).
The Brent crude oil prices was slightly down by 3.69 pct and closed at $ 109.42 per barrel (last week $ 105.51 per barrel). The bunker prices closed also lower at $ 591.50 (last week $ 612.50 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 9th Nov 2012.
