INDONESIA TO INDIA SUPRAMAX FREIGHT MARKET FAIRLY STEADY - VISTAAR
COALspot.com - The Cape size sector continued to remain active with iron ore movement being steady. All other sectors were down.
The BDI was up by 3.86 pct closing at 1,049 points and the cape index was by 10.55 pct closing at 2,451 points. The panamax index was down by 8.53 pct closing at 804 points. The supramax and handy size index was also down closing at 699 points (down by 4.51 pct) and 434 points (down by 2.47 pct).
The supramax freight market from Indonesia to India was fairly steady.
The charter rates for vessels delivery Singapore reported around $ 10,000 per day for trip via Indonesia to India. The Supramax freight expected to be steady to slightly weak next week and the panamax freights expected to be steady.
One year charter rates for cape size vessels was at around $ 14,000 per day. Short period rates for Panamax and supramax was around $ 8000 per day.
The iron imports into china has been steady , but that could soften once there is sufficient stock. The prices of iron ore and coal remains soft and seems freight market could be fairly steady to soft.
The average charter rates was at cape/$ 16,842 per day , panamax/$ 6,424 per day , supramax/$ 7,304 per day and Handy size/$ 6,397 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) was at around cape/$ 16,000 per day, panamax/$ 10,000 per day, supramax/$ 10,000 per day , Handy size/$ 8,000 per day.
The supramax index in the feast (S8 route) was steady up by 1.06 pct and closed at $ 7736 per day (last week $ 7,655 per day) and S7 route was slightly up by 1.79 pct and closed at $ 4,436 per day (last week $ 4,358 per day) . Both routes likely to be steady next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was slightly down by 2.43 pct and closed at $ 109.55 per barrel (last week $ 112.28 per barrel). The bunker prices closed also lower at $ 628.00 (last week $ 646.50 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 26th Oct 2012.
