SUPRAMAX FREIGHT STEADY: PANAMAX FREIGHTS FIRM - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The shipping market saw some hectic activity in the Cape and panamax sector and quite a lot of fixtures reported.
The BDI was up by 5.83 pct closing at 926 points and the Cape index was slightly down by 0.93 pct closing at 1914 points. The panama index had the maximum gain which was up by 45.65 pct closing at 871 points. The Supramax and Handysize index was almost at same levels and closed at 776 points (down by 2.39 pct) and 444 points (no change).
According to Vistaar Shipping, the Supramax freight market from Indonesia to India was firmer and however appeared to be steady towards end of the week. The charter rates were reported delivery Singapore reported around US$ 10000-11000 per day for trip via Indonesia to India. The Supramax freight expected to be steady next week and the panamax freights expected to be firm.
"The iron imports into china has picked up and expected to continue for next few weeks,"said, Capt. Reddy of Vistaar Shipping.
The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 11074 per day , Panamax/US$ 6937 per day , Supramax/US$ 8110 per day and Handy size/US$ 6536 per day.
The futures for three years (2012-2015) was at around Cape/US$ 15000 per day, Panamax/US$ 10000 per day, Supramax/US$ 10000 per day , Handy size/US$ 8500 per day.
The supramax index in the feast (S8 route) was down by 0.95 pct and closed at US$ 7387 per day (last week US$ 7458 per day) and S7 route was also down by 3.88 pct and closed at US$ 4355 per day (last week US$ 4531 per day) . Both routes likely to be steady next week.
The congestion in EC Australia was at 33 vessels this week (last week 35 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Haypoint/6, DBCT/4, Gladstone/11, Abbot Point/Nil, New Castle/10, Port Kembla/2 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 41 vessels (last week 37 vessels).
The Brent crude oil prices was slightly firm and was up by 2.48 pct and closed at US$ 114.57 per barrel (last week US$ 111.80 per barrel). The bunker prices was at same levels as last week and closed at US$ 652.50 (last week US$ 652.50 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 12th Oct 2012.
