THE FREIGHT RATES FROM INDONESIA TO INDIA EXPECTED TO BE STEADY - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The freight market was mixed with most indices closing positive except for the Panamax index.
The main sentiment seems to be the announcement by Federal reserve for more stimulus to boost the US growth. There were quite few a short period fixtures reported at firm rates, supramax fixed around $ 9500-10000 per day and Panamax fixed around $ 7000 per day.
The BDI was slightly down by 1.05 pct closing at 662 points, whereas the Cape index was up by 1.52 pct closing to 1,204 points. The Panamax index saw the biggest drop which was down by 16.19 pct closing at 502 points. The Supramax index was almost at same levels closing at 834 points and the handy size index was up by 4.15 pct closing at 477 points.
The Supramax freight market from Indonesia to India firmed up and with the increase in bunker prices the freight rates expected to be firming up. The freight rates from Indonesia is expected to be steady next week.
The average charter rates were at Cape/$ 3,660 per day , Panamax/$ 3,987 per day , Supramax/$ 8,725 per day and Handy size/$ 6,952 per day.
The futures for three years (2012-2015) was at around Cape/$ 13,500 per day, Panamax/$ 9,500 per day, Supramax/$ 10,000 per day , Handy size/$ 8,500 per day.
The supramax index in the feast (S8 route) was up by 6.52 pct and closed at $ 7,691 per day (last week $ 7220 per day) and S7 route was up by 1.37 pct and closed at $ 4,755 per day (last week $ 4,680 per day) . Both routes likely to be steady/firm next week.
The congestion in EC Australia was at 55 vessels this week (last week 56 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/3, DBCT/7, Gladstone/2, Abbot Point/2, New Castle/38, Port Kembla/2 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 36 vessels (last week 31 vessels).
The Brent crude oil prices moved up by 2.05 pct and closed at $ 116.74 per barrel (last week $ 114.39 per barrel). The bunker prices also firmed up and closed at $ 697.50 (last week $ 679.50 pmt) for IFO 380 CST ex. Singapore on 14th Sept 2012.
