INDO INDIA ROUTE FREIGHT FOR SUPRAMAX REMAINS STRONG - CAPT. REDDY
 COALspot.com - The freight market overall remained weak and except for cape index all other sectors were down. The biggest drop was in the Panamax sector. The BDI was down by 4.83 pct closing at 669 points and the cape index was up by 8.14 pct closing at 1,186 points. The panamax dropped by 18.50 pct closing at 599 points. The supramax and handy size was almost at same levels closing at 832 points (down by 2.92 points) and 458 points (down by 0.22 pct) respectively.
The Supramax freight market from Indonesia to India continued to show some signs of firmness.
The overall coal demand to India and China is low and the demand is likely to be weak. The iron demand also is expected to be weak in the coming months. The freight rates from Indonesia is expected to be steady next week.
The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 3,452 per day , Panamax/US$ 4,758 per day , Supramax/US$ 8,703 per day and Handy size/US$ 6,685 per day.
The futures for three years (2012-2015) was at around Cape/US$ 13,500 per day, Panamax/US$ 9,500 per day, Supramax/US$ 10,000 per day , Handy size/US$ 8,250 per day.
The supramax index in the far east (S8 route) was up by 5.12 pct and closed at US$ 7,220 per day (last week US$ 6,868 per day) and S7 route was down by 1.51 pct and closed at US$ 4,680 per day (last week US$ 4,752 per day) . Both routes likely to be steady next week.
The congestion in EC Australia was at 56 vessels this week (last week 70 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/2, DBCT/9, Gladstone/2, Abbot Point/1, New Castle/39, Port Kembla/2 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 31 vessels (last week 23 vessels).
The Brent crude oil prices moved up slightly and closed at US$ 114.39 per barrel (last week US$ 114.79 per barrel). The bunker prices was almost at same levels closing at US$ 679.50 (last week US$ 678.00 pmt) for IFO 380 CST ex. Singapore on 7th Sept 2012.
