THE SPOT FIXTURE RATES FOR SUPRAMAX IN SE ASIA SAW SOME SOFTENING OF CHARTER RATES - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The market seem to be holding and except for Supramax and handy size index all other index was up with BDI up by 4.74 pct closing at 972 points.
The Cape index was up by 4.31 pct closing at 1572 points and Panamax index was up by 11.78 points closing at 1158 points. The Supramax index and Handy size index was slightly down closing at 936 points (down by 1.58 pct) and 540 points (down by 2.56 pct) respectively.
The spot fixture rates for Supramax in SE Asia saw some softening of charter rates. Vessels delivery South China was around $11,000 per day. Short period rates delivery far east for Panamax was around $ 9,000-9,500 per day and for Supramax was around $11,000 per day.
The average charter rates was at Cape/$6,992 per day , Panamax/$9,264 per day , Supramax/$9,790 per day and Handy size/$8,201 per day.
The futures for three years (2012-2015) was at around Cape/$ 16,000 per day, Panamax/$ 11,000 per day, Supramax/$ 11,500 per day , Handy size/$ 9,500 per day.
The supramax index in the far east (S8 route) was down 3.93 pct and closed at $ 10,768 per day (last week $ 11,209 per day) and S7 route was also down by 4.45 pct and closed at $ 8964 per day (last week $ 9,382 per day) . Both routes likely to be steady this week.
The congestion in EC Australia decreased to 111 vessels this week(last week118 ). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/15, DBCT/16, Gladstone/26, Abbot Point/4, New Castle/40, Port Kembla/10 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 59 vessels (last week 46).
The Brent crude oil prices was almost at same levels closing at $121.34 per barrel (last week $123.99 per barrel) and bunkers prices closed at $727.00 pmt (last week $735.00 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 13th April 2012.
